■当社のプロフィール

　当社は、1925（大正14）年５月に東京・神田で創業し、国鉄（日本国有鉄道）職員向けの実務書を中心とした出版活動を行ってまいりました。特に現業職員の昇職試験対策用の書籍、雑誌が好評を博しました。

　第２次世界大戦後は、1947（昭和22）年から社業を再開し、平林喜三造著『旅客運送規則逐條解説』、橋本一著『貨物運送規則逐條解説』などの名著を刊行。その後も、国鉄の旅客、貨物、運転、庶務などの部門の、専門性の高い実務教育図書を精力的に刊行しました。
　なかでも、国鉄の運送約款である「旅客営業規則」とその取扱方の細目を規定した「旅客営業取扱基準規程」の関連条文を見開き対照で展開するという画期的な編集方法を開発したことは、長年にわたる鉄道図書出版で培ったノウハウによるものでした。これは当局によって公式に採用され、その後のＪＲ発足以降にも引き継がれています。

　1987（昭和62）年の国鉄分割・民営化に伴い、当社は出版分野を拡大し、新たに鉄道や航空、バス等の趣味書を含む交通関連図書、また国内／総合旅行管理者、通関士などの国家資格試験関連図書、さらにエッセイ、小説、一般向け医学書などの一般図書の刊行を行うようになりました。

　今後とも、専門性の高い実務教育図書を中心とした出版活動を通じて、人類文化の継承と発展にいささかなりとも寄与することができればと念願しております。

■Profile

We have been publishing books since starting business at Kanda, Tokyo in May 1925, focusing mainly on practical books for staff of the JNR (Japan National Railways). Books and magazines to prepare for the promotion examination for field staff, in particular, have acquired a good reputation.

After World War II, we restarted business in 1947, and published classics such as "Ryokaku Unso Kisoku Chikujo Kaisetsu (Item by Item Explanation on the Passenger Transport Regulations)" written by Kimizo Hirabayashi and "Kamotsu Unso Kisoku Chikujo Kaisetsu (Item by Item Explanation on Freight Transportation Regulations)" written by Hajime Hashimoto. We have been actively publishing highly technical books for business education in JNR divisions such as passenger transportation, freight transportation, operation and general affairs.

In particular, we developed an epoch-making editing method-to deploy the "Regulations on Passenger Operations", which are transportation clauses of the JNR, and related clauses of the "Regulations on Standards for Passenger Operations and Handling", which provide the details of the way of handling passengers, on facing pages. This method came to pass based on know-how acquired through long-standing experience in publishing books about railways. This was officially adopted by the authority in question, and has been continued even after the founding of JR (Japan Railways).

With the division and privatization of the JNR in 1987, we expanded our publishing field, and started publishing transportation-related books including books for pleasure about railways, aviation, buses, etc., books related to National Certification Examination for Domestic/General Travel Counselor, Registered Customs Specialist, etc. as well as general books such as essays, novels and medical books for the public.

In the future, we wish to contribute, even a little, to the continuance and development of human culture through publishing activities focusing on highly technical books for business education.

■関連業務

[受注製作]

　小社では、市販の刊行物の製作のほか、長年の鉄道図書出版のノウハウを活かし、法人や個人のお客様からの注文による書籍や印刷物の企画編集・製作を行っています。
　法人のお客様からのご注文では、ＪＲ各社や大手民鉄、公営交通各社の社内規則集、駅係員用の接客マニュアル、業務用手帳、研修用テキストなどを数多く受注製作しています。

　また、個人のお客様からの受注製作、いわゆる「自費出版」では、鉄道マンの方が退職記念として自分史や写真集、句集・歌集などを小部数製作されるケースが多いのが特徴です。
